Residents at The Firs enjoyed a lovely, creative morning with our Easter crafts session, making Easter bonnets and painting eggs while listening to music on the Echo.

Gathered together around the table, residents chose their decorations, shared ideas and helped one another bring their bonnets to life. The first photo shows the group surrounded by colourful bonnets and craft materials, with a relaxed, sociable feel as everyone got stuck in. Another picture captures a resident carefully decorating elements for his bonnet, taking real care over the finishing touches.

Once the bonnets were complete, the smiles said it all. Two of the photos show residents proudly modelling their homemade creations, enjoying the chance to “show off” their beautiful work and receiving plenty of compliments along the way.

Activities like these are about more than making something to wear. Craft sessions support wellbeing by encouraging creativity, concentration and gentle hand movement, while the music adds to the atmosphere and helps everyone feel at ease. They also create opportunities for conversation and shared laughter, which are just as important as the finished bonnets.

By the end of the morning, residents were clearly delighted with what they had made, and it was a pleasure to see so much pride and enjoyment around the table at The Firs.
