Residents at The Firs enjoyed a tasty, hands-on activity as part of our St Patrick’s Day celebrations, decorating cakes ready for afternoon tea.
Our cook had baked the cakes for the occasion, and residents had great fun adding the finishing touches. Using green icing to match the St Patrick’s Day theme, everyone took their time to decorate their cupcakes just how they liked them. It was a calm, sociable session, with plenty of chat and laughter as the cakes began to look increasingly festive.
The photos capture the activity beautifully. In one image, a resident is carefully applying green icing with the support of a carer alongside her, showing the gentle encouragement that helps everyone take part comfortably. In the other pictures, residents are pictured concentrating as they spread the icing onto their cupcakes, clearly enjoying the process and taking pride in their work.
Activities like cake decorating are a lovely way to support wellbeing. They encourage creativity, offer a satisfying sense of achievement, and provide a relaxed opportunity to spend time together. Best of all, residents got to enjoy the delicious results later at St Patrick’s Day tea, a sweet ending to a fun celebration at The Firs.
